This study is the fist in a series of investigations from our lab to look at patient experience and markers of Lyme disease in the body.
This survey-based study looked at pregnancy complications and child health in participants with and without Lyme disease.
This study looked at ways to optimize the detection or recovery of the Lyme pathogen from blood. We found that Borrelia concentrate in the platelet fraction, making it a potential reservoir for diagnostic targets.
This literature review examines many concepts in fundamental and clinical microbiology and host biology that impact the presentation and progression of Lyme disease. It is published in the Journal Pathogens as part of their special issue, “Pathogenesis of Fungal and Bacterial Microbes”.
This project evaluated the potential to use a liposomal delivery system (specially formulated fat micro-blobs) to package purified pieces of the Lyme disease pathogen and stimulate an immune response in mice. Liposomal systems have several applications including prophylactic vaccine development, molecular ‘tool’ production, and therapeutic drug delivery.
